Travel Trailer/5th Wheel/Pop-Up & Slide-In Camper – Service Contract 

SECTION I. DEFINITIONS

Throughout this Service Contract, bolded words and phrases are used and have special meaning. These are as follows:

  • Administrator, We, Us, or Our – means Automotive Warranty Service Group.
  • Information Page – means the document which discloses: The Contract Holder’s name, address, phone number; the Vehicle Year, Make, Model, Odometer Reading, Class, Identification Number, Purchase Price; Issuing Dealer name, address, phone number; Contract Term in miles and months; Contract Price and Important Disclosure Information signed by the Contract Holder.
  • Breakdown – means the failure of an original or replacement part covered by this Contract to perform its function as it was originally designed to work in normal service with required maintenance due to material failure or defects in workmanship and outside the manufacturer’s tolerance. It does not mean the gradual reduction in operating performance due to wear and use.
  • Contract Holder, You, or Your – means the purchaser or holder of this Service Contract.
  • Contract Period – New and Used Recreational Vehicles expiration is measured in time and/or mileage from the Purchase Date and/or odometer reading at the time of this Service Contract Purchase.
  • Cost – means the usual and fair charges for parts and labor necessary to repair covered parts. Replacement of any Covered Part may be made with new, remanufactured, rebuilt, or like kind and quality at the time of the Breakdown at the discretion of the Administrator. Parts will be reimbursed up to the manufacturer’s suggested list price. Labor time will be reimbursed using nationally recognized labor time standards.
  • Covered Part(s) or Coverage – means any part of the unit that is listed in SECTION II. COVERED PARTS/COMPONENTS for a New or Used Vehicle identified on the Information Page. New Vehicles receive protection for those items listed in SECTION II. COVERED PARTS/COMPONENTS, numbers 1-15. Used Vehicles receive protection for those items listed in SECTION II. COVERED PARTS/COMPONENTS, numbers 1-13. Optional Coverage may be available at the time of sale when marked on the Information Page and an additional surcharge has been reported to the Administrator.
  • Deductible – means the amount that you must pay for covered repairs PER REPAIR VISIT, listed on the Information Page. If no amount is shown on the Information Page, a $100 Deductible will apply.
  • Participating Lender – means any financial institution providing financing for the purchase of the Vehicle and/or this Service Contract.
  • Pre-Existing Condition – means a condition or Breakdown that occurred before Your purchase of the Service Contract that would have been obvious and apparent if the component had been inspected at the time of purchase.
  • Repair Facility – means any service center at which the Contract Holder seeks to acquire service under this Contract.
  • Service Contract or Contract – means this document.
  • Vehicle or Unit – means the Motor Home/Recreational Vehicle described on the Information Page.

SECTION II. COVERED PARTS/COMPONENTS

  1. Chassis:  Frame: Metal only, bumper wheels, manual lift jacks, latch and lift crank. Brakes: Master cylinder, hydraulic and electric brake actuator; wheel cylinders, backing plates and magnets (except shoes).
  2. Suspension: Wheel bearings, U joints, coil and leaf springs; bushings, spindles and supports; and axles and axle shafts.
  3. Water Heater: Burner assembly, tank, thermostat, thermocouple, gas valve, heating elements, electronic ignition assembly, wiring harness, switches, fittings and connections, and P.C. Boards.
  4. Waste System: Shower, toilet, sink(s), holding tanks, vacuum breaker, gate valves, fittings, and connections.
  5. Fresh Water System: Water pump, compressor, water tanks, water lines, traps, fittings, PVC pipes, and faucets.
  6. Coach Air Conditioning/Ventilation: Compressor, evaporator, capacitors, relays, thermostat, condenser, accumulator, expansion valve, receiver dryer, blower motor, switches, and electronic module; reversing valve, P.C. Boards, pressure cycling switch, high/low cutoff switches, ducts, control panel, and ventilation fans.
  7. Range and Oven: Burner assembly, thermostat, thermocouple, burner valve, microwave oven, power hood vent, igniter, L.P. fittings and connections, and P.C. Boards.
  8. L.P. Gas System: Regulators, valves and gauges, mounting brackets, tanks, pigtails, gas lines, shut off system, and fittings.
  9. Heating System: Furnace, igniter, burner assembly, thermocouple, gas valve, thermostat, blower motor, heat pump, heat strips, reversing valve, L.P. fittings and connections, ducts and registers, and P.C. Boards.
  10. Refrigerator: Thermostat, thermocouple, cooling unit, burner assembly, igniter, L.P. fittings and connections; control panel, and P.C. Boards.
  11. Auxiliary Power-Plant/Generator: All internally lubricated parts of the power plant engine, starter switches, controller, power converter, inverter, voltage regulator, gauges, hour meter, and P.C. Boards and power transfer switch. Head and/or cylinder block if damaged by the failure of an internally lubricated part.
  12. Convenience Package: Ice maker, freezer dishwasher, washer/dryer, trash compactor,  central vacuum cleaner system, systems monitor panel, external barbecue, carbon monoxide/smoke detector, alarm sensors, garbage disposal, electronic/remote entrance, thermometer, compass, central locking system, awning mechanism (excluding cover), hood and door hinges; hood latches and springs; door handles, interior/exterior light fixtures (excluding bulbs), electrical outlets, anti-theft system, wonder bed lift motor, and computer Printed Circuit Boards. Kitchen center if factory installed, or if dealer installed and meets all manufacturer specifications. Step System: All electrical and mechanical components.
  13. Leveling System: Trailer (stabilizing) leveling jack system. Note:  Coverage is only available for Vehicles/units that are factory installed or factory approved dealer installed.
  14. Slide Out System: Slide out room extension system(s). Raised roof extension system.
  15. Seals/Gaskets:  (Optional on Used Units – See Information Page): All seals, gaskets, and sealing boots are covered for all components listed by this plan.
  16. Exclusionary Coverage: (New Units Only – See Information Page): New and extended new Coverage is an exclusionary plan under which every component of the unit is covered, except those parts, components, and conditions listed under SECTION VIII. – EXCLUSIONS – WHAT IS NOT COVERED.

SECTION III. CONTRACT HOLDER ADDITIONAL BENEFITS

If a covered Breakdown of the Vehicle occurs during the term of this Contract, the Administrator will:
                                                

  • Towing Assistance: If towing assistance becomes necessary due to the Breakdown of a covered component, towing Costs not payable by insurance will be covered for up to $150.00 per occurrence. Upgraded towing coverage available if surcharge paid.
  • Roadside Assistance/Service Call: In the event of a mechanical Breakdown of a covered part during the term of this Contract, You will be reimbursed for reasonable towing charges for roadside assistance/service call charges up to $100 per occurrence.
  • Trip Interruption Assistance: When a covered Breakdown disables Your Vehicle and the repairs are completed more than 100 miles away from the Contract Holder’s residence, we will reimburse the Contract Holder for lodging and meal expenses incurred by the Contract Holder between the date of the Breakdown and the date on which covered repairs are completed. The Contract Holder will be reimbursed for actual expenses up to $125.00 per day, for three (3) days, not to exceed $375.00 per occurrence. Receipts are required for reimbursement.

SECTION IV. OPTIONAL COVERAGE/UPGRADE

These options and upgrades are only applicable if shown on the Information Page and the appropriate surcharge is paid.

  • Audio/Video Entertainment: TV(s), TV antenna system, VCR, DVD, Stereo System(s), and Satellite System.
  • Plasma TV: Plasma TV(s), including the coverage in the Audio/Video Entertainment Option above.
  • Commercial Use: See Commercial Use Coverage.
  • Roadside Assistance/Service Call: In the event of a mechanical Breakdown of a Covered Part during the term of this Contract, You will be reimbursed for reasonable towing charges for roadside assistance/service call charges up to $200 per occurrence.
  • Reduction of Deductible: When the Reduction of Deductible box is marked on the Information Page and the appropriate surcharge is received by the Administrator, the Deductible on any authorized claim will be reduced by $50.00, only if the authorized repairs are made by the issuing dealer stated on the Information Page.

SECTION V. ADMINISTRATOR OBLIGATIONS

During the Contract Period of this Contract, the Administrator will pay the Contract Holder or Repair Facility the Cost for authorized repairs less the Deductible for Covered Parts due to a Breakdown.

SECTION VI. CONTRACT HOLDER OBLIGATIONS

  • Prior authorization is required from the Administrator before the repair of covered components.
  • The Contract Holder hereby authorizes the Participating Lender to: 1) be listed as joint payee and receive any refund in the event this Contract is cancelled, or 2) to cancel this Contract if the Contract Holder defaults in his/her obligations to the lender.
  • Use all reasonable means to protect the Vehicle from further damage.
  • In order for this Contract to remain in force, the Contract Holder is required to service the Vehicle according to the manufacturer’s maintenance guidelines. The Contract Holder must follow the Vehicle manufacturer’s maintenance guidelines to avoid denial of a claim because of improper maintenance. The Contract Holder must keep and make available verifiable signed service/purchase receipts, which show that this maintenance has been performed as recommended by the manufacturer.
  • The Contract Holder and the Repair Facility are required to obtain from AWSG, an authorization number prior to beginning any repair covered by this Contract. AWSG reserves the right to inspect the covered Vehicle to evaluate requested repairs.
  • The Contract Holder is responsible for paying a Deductible for each visit to the Repair Facility.
  • The Contract Holder is responsible for authorizing and paying for any tear down or diagnosis time needed to determine if the Vehicle has a covered Breakdown. If it is subsequently determined that the repair is needed due to a covered Breakdown, then the Administrator will pay for such tear down or diagnosis. If the failure is not a covered Breakdown, then the Contract Holder is responsible for payment of such tear down or diagnosis.

SECTION VII. HOW TO REPORT A CLAIM

  • If Your Vehicle is within forty (40) miles of the selling dealer and the dealer has a Repair Facility, You must call them and make sure they can work on Your Vehicle. If the selling dealer cannot do repairs, You may take the Vehicle to any qualified Repair Facility to assure coverage under the terms of the Service Contract. Authorization must be obtained from Automotive Warranty Service Group prior to any repair.
  • Present this Contract to the Repair Facility, call the Administrator toll free at 1-800-579-2233 and fax any required maintenance receipts to 630-790-6009. The Administrator may be reached by mail at Automotive Warranty Service Group, 800 Roosevelt Rd., Glen Ellyn, IL 60137.
  • Prior to proceeding with repairs, ensure that the Repair Facility calls the Administrator with an estimate of repairs and receives an authorization number from Administrator.
  • Reimbursement for emergency repairs performed outside of normal business hours can be obtained by the Contract Holder only if he/she follows the above procedures on the first business day after such emergency repairs are performed.
  • Claims must be submitted within sixty (60) days of the authorized repair for reimbursement. Prior authorization is required from the Administrator prior to the repair of covered components. To receive payment for Your claim, submit: A) Completed and signed original repair order. B) Proof of payment with original cash register receipt, credit card charge slip, or copy of Your personal check. C) Copies of the original rental, towing, or trip interruption receipts showing proof of payment with original cash register receipt, credit card charge slip, or copy of Your personal check.
  • For repairs after hours or when the claims office is closed:

         If a Covered Part has a covered Breakdown at any time               outside of Claims Department regular business hours, you may:

  • Follow the regular claim procedure as outlined above. Authorize and pay for any teardown or diagnostic time needed to determine whether Your Vehicle has a covered Breakdown. If You reasonably determine that You have a covered Breakdown and You choose to have Your Vehicle repaired, You are responsible for paying the repair costs.
  • You must then contact the Administrator on the next available business day after the failure. If the Administrator determines that there was a covered Breakdown, we will reimburse You in accordance with the terms and conditions above.

Please note: We do provide 24 hour answering and message service.

SECTION VIII. EXCLUSIONS – WHAT IS NOT COVERED

  • Pre-Existing Condition. When the selling dealer or independent Repair Facility using the Administrator’s inspection form verifies that the protected covered components are in proper working condition, We will waive the Pre-Existing Condition exclusion in this Contract.
  • For a Breakdown caused by overheating or for repairs to the engine or transmission due to continued operation without proper levels of lubricant or coolant. Note: It is Your responsibility to make certain that oil and temperature warning lights and gauges are functioning properly. You must take precautions against causing any further damage to Your Vehicle when either warning lights/gauges indicate inadequate protection or performance.
  • For damage to a covered component caused by the failure of a component not listed as covered under this Contract.
  • Repairs covered under the original manufacturer’s warranty whether or not that warranty was transferred to You. Any Cost or benefit for which the manufacturer has announced its responsibility through any means including recalls or service bulletins whether such recalls or service bulletins were communicated directly to You or not.
  • Repairs beyond those required to correct a Breakdown.
  • Any covered repair not authorized in advance by Us.
  • Damage caused by continued operation of an impaired Vehicle.
  • Damage caused by towing Your Vehicle or overloading Your Vehicle beyond the manufacturer’s specifications or recommended capacity
  • A Breakdown caused by or involving modifications, alterations, or additions to Your Vehicle unless those modifications were performed by or recommended by the original Vehicle manufacturer.
  • For towing a trailer or another Vehicle unless Your Vehicle was equipped by the manufacturer for that purpose.
  • Excessive oil consumption, loss of compression, and the gradual reduction in operating performance of any covered component due to normal service when the covered component is within manufacturer’s field tolerance or specification.
  • Repairs required because of: technician negligence, detonation, sludge, carbon deposits, contamination, rust, corrosion, electrolysis, operation without the proper lubrication levels or fluid type, and the failure to perform the manufacturer’s recommended maintenance including appliances and HVAC (heater and air conditioner) systems.
  • Repairs made outside the United States and Canada.
  • Repairs required because of: collision, physical damage, negligence, neglect, misuse, abuse, road hazard, racing, off-road use, vandalism, riot, theft, flood, lightning, electrical overload, wind damage, fire, war, acts of God, or, loss that is normally covered by standard Casualty or Physical Damage Insurance Policy whether or not and insurance policy is in force for Your Vehicle.
  • The Cost of teardown, disassembly, or assembly when a Breakdown is not covered by this Contract.
  • Repairs that are covered under a repairer’s guarantee or another Service Contract Administrator’s coverage.

Incidental or consequential damage, loss of profits, property damage, personal injury, inconvenience, loss of Vehicle use, commercial loss, punitive or exemplary damages, and attorney fees.
